Making the Rounds

Cole and I just got back from our whirlwind visit to Georgia! He took his first flight and earned his wings! The week flew by, as it always does, and there is just never enough time to spend with everyone. Fortunately, Cole did get to see all of his family, and even met his second cousins at the Langston family reunion! Here are some pictures of him from the week.

5:00 a.m.--saying goodbye to Daddy before heading to the airport (dressed in his "Fly Guy" outfit for the occassion!)

The first stop was Aunt Mel's, where he got reacquainted with cousins Caleigh and Jake, and Mimi of course!

He loved playing in the exersaucer and smiling at goofy Aunt Mel.

Crashing briefly before he was back to playing again...I think he slept a total of 30 minutes that first day! He was too afraid he might miss something, I guess!

Once we got up to Mimi's house, we discovered just how much Cole has grown since his last visit. I laughed so hard when I put him in this bouncy seat and he was so heavy that it nearly touched the ground and his legs were hanging off the end!

Mimi also had an exersaucer that he loved...I think we're going to have to get him one of these at home! I was amazed at how much hand-eye coordination he has developed recently and the way he is now playing with toys with more "purpose"! He studied each and every toy on this thing and figured out what all of them are supposed to do!

His other special talent...he can put his entire foot in his mouth! Kids, don't try this at home!

We had a family reunion with some friendly competition. Here's Todd tearing it up in the Corn Hole tournament. Wait a minute, what is he doing on the GA Tech side?

Ok, that's better!

Leo was so sweet with Cole, and Cole was equally interested in him!

The "big kids" had a blast on the waterslide. Here's Nathanael having fun and Aunt Shelby getting her baby love.

Finally, some time to relax. Watching the golf tournament with Poppy...

But not too much time to rest...we were off to see Gigi, Grandpa, and the rest of the Johnson family on Sunday! Somehow I didn't manage to snap a picture of Cole with Grandpa or with Aunt Anna...sorry guys!

What do you think Jack is going to do with that spatula? ;)

Here's the little guy with Uncle Jason.

Aunt Jessica and Uncle Chris got some smiles out of him!

Mimi loved helping with the night time bath routine.

On our last day, we took Cole in the pool for the very first time! The water was a little chilly, because it's been in the 50's at night in Dahlonega. Even the 80 degree days felt so pleasant compared to our Corpus heat!

A very exhausted Mommy and Cole--

See ya next time!

Sweet

Just thought these photos were too sweet not to share!

Tomorrow morning we'll be on a plane to GA! Wish us luck!!!

Welcome Baby Gavin!

Gavin Robert Dunston was born July 9 at 5:12 pm! He weighed 8 lbs, 7 oz and was 20.5 inches long. Congratulations Gabe and Staci, and big sisters Ella and Karine!

Gavin is doing great except that he has to be on the bili-blanket for a few days due to jaundice, just like his buddy Cole was. He is already getting much better and is back up to his birth weight, so he is going to be a strong little guy!

Holding Gavin really put it into perspective how much Cole has grown and changed in the last 5 months! I can't believe he was ever as tiny as this!!!

Four Month Checkup

Cole had his 4 month checkup last week. Here are his stats:

16 lbs 0 ounces (75 percentile)
26 and 1/4 inches long (82 percentile)

I can not believe that he has grown 7 inches in only 4 months and has almost tripled his birth weight! At this rate, he will be towering over me before he even starts kindergarten! ;)

His hair is starting to come in a little thicker, although it is still very fine and blond. He has beautiful dark blue eyes and the rosiest little lips. I love these pictures of him and the Dunston girls.

He is SO talkative and his favorite sounds recently are "brrrrrr" and "bew, bew, bew." He will look intently into my eyes and repeat this over and over, as if he is telling me some really important stuff! It melts my heart.

He has finally gotten the hang of rolling over from tummy to back! He did this for the first time when he was about 2 and a half months old, possibly by accident. He did it a couple of times, but then he never even tried again until recently. Now he can roll over with ease! He can also roll from his back to his side, but still doesn't know what to do with that bottom arm that's always in the way. Now that he can roll around and get himself comfortable, he has given up the bouncy seat and is sleeping in his crib. I was worried he was going to exceed the weight limit on the bouncy seat before I was able to get him in the crib, but fortunately he made the transition before it became a problem!

Not only is he sleeping in his crib, but he's also sleeping through the night!!! I feel like a new woman now that I am getting 8 consecutive hours of sleep at night! Cole goes to bed around 6:30, I wake him up for one last feeding at 10:00ish, and then he sleeps till morning. Of course, now that I've announced this on the blog, he'll probably start waking up at night again!

Next week I will be taking him on his first plane ride. We are flying to Georgia on July 15 for a whole week! I wish Jeff could come with us, but he has to stay home and work this time. I'm a little nervous about flying with him alone, but I know it will be worth it for him to see his family!

I am hoping that my dear friend, Staci Dunston, goes into labor before I leave for Georgia! She is expecting her first boy any day now! We are so excited to see how a boy fits into their family, and for Cole to have a new partner in crime! We surprised Staci with a baby shower last week. Here's the mommy of three-to-be with Sheri.

Oh, and I'm terrible for not posting any photos from Jeff's first Father's Day! We celebrated the occasion together with the Dunstons with steaks and ice cream cake . Here are the "#1 Dads" and a shot of the Johnson family plus 1:

Happy 4th of July!

I know...it's been almost a month since my last posting! The Johnson household has been quite hectic with me working a lot lately, so I haven't made time to upload photos from recent events. Today we had a fabulous day out at Leah and Ryan Atwood's beautiful island home! Here are some photos from today, and I promise to catch up on the previous weeks very soon!

We had a wonderful time, relaxing on the deck after a not-so-refreshing dip in the intercoastal. The air temperature was about 98 degrees, and the water felt like a bathtub! We grilled out and then settled in to watch the fireworks. I love the 4th of July, especially when I get to spend it with such wonderful friends and my precious little family!

Leah and Kelly bravely jumping off the top deck! I did NOT join them in this craziness!

Happy 4th everyone!
