These are some photos from our trip to Vero Beach. Cole and I got to spend an entire week with my parents, my sister and brother-in-law (Melanie and Cory) and my niece and nephews, Caleigh, Jake, and Nathanael. We even had a visit on Easter from my Aunt Toni and Uncle Buddy, who live nearby in central Florida. It was so fun to watch Cole interact with his cousins and experience so many "firsts": the sand, the ocean, the swimming pool, and his first Easter Basket.
Unfortunately, Cole came down with a mild case of pneumonia during the trip and we had to go to the E.R. It didn't seem to keep him from having a great time, though. Once he got on the antibiotics, he was back to playing, swimming, and trying VERY hard to take his first steps. He just doesn't quite believe that he can do it yet! I know that once he realizes he can take a step without holding on to something, he will just take off!
His first day at the pool, he was so relaxed that he almost fell asleep in the float!
Poppy introduced him to the surf. Everytime the water washed over his feet, he cracked up and then he would try to chase the waves back to the ocean! He was fearless!
He had a beard of sand after shoveling a fistful into his mouth before I could stop him!
Uncle Cory took him out into the water and he wasn't even scared!
Jake showed Cole how to build a sand castle, and made a nice pool in the center for Cole to cool off in!
Nathanael and Cole diving into their Easter Baskets:
Cole was very curious about Caleigh's scuba mask!
One very cool thing we got to experience was watching the space shuttle launch. We were able to see it pretty well from Vero Beach, even though we were about 1 1/2 hrs from Cape Canaveral. We saw it take off and even saw the separation take place! Unfortunately, the photos did not turn out well at all! In person we were able to see a huge flame and the reflection over the ocean.
